Third Annual Sleep Walk Dallas/Fort Worth: Picnics and Pups

On June 13th, Project Sleep hosted the third annual Sleep Walk Dallas/Fort Worth at River Legacy Park.  This year’s event brought 160 sleep enthusiasts (including people living with sleep disorders, advocates, doctors, researchers, and more) together to raise awareness about sleep health and sleep disorders. With wacky sunglasses, signs, pajamas, and several dogs, participants took a scenic two-mile walk through the park.

Upon their return, Project Sleep’s founder, Julie Flygare, delivered brief remarks and introduced special guest Dr. Todd Swick, a renowned sleep specialist who traveled from Houston to speak at the event.  Dr. Swick is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Neurology at the University of Texas at Houston and Medical Director of Neurology and Sleep Medical Consultants of Houston as well as Medical Director of The North Cypress Medical Center Sleep Disorders Center and Apnix Sleep Diagnostic Centers.  With his doberman pinscher by his side, he spoke to the audience about the future of sleep medicine and narcolepsy treatments on the horizon.

The rest of the afternoon was filled with snacks, prizes, face-painting, chalk, ladder golf, and bounce house jumping.
