Narcolepsy Story Sharing Series: Katie Mehin

Project Sleep presents its third month of the Rising Voices of Narcolepsy Story Sharing Series. Each month, viewers will be able to gather online to watch a Rising Voices of Narcolepsy trained speaker or writer present their story live via our Facebook page.

On Sunday, March 1st, the live series will continued with a brand-new storyteller. Our third speaker, Rising Voices of Narcolepsy trained speaker Katie Mehin, shared her engaging presentation, followed by a few questions from live viewers.

About Katie:

Katie Mehin is the Director of Career Services for a public school district in Arizona specializing in Career and Technical Education. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her husband and two boys, ages 6 and 2. Entering her sophomore year of college she was diagnosed with narcolepsy and cataplexy, almost 5 years after the initial onset of her symptoms. As a Rising Voices of Narcolepsy speaker, Katie hopes to spread awareness of this neurological sleep disorder in an effort to help others in obtaining more timely diagnose.

To improve public understanding of narcolepsy, Project Sleep’s Rising Voices of Narcolepsy program trains people with narcolepsy to share their stories through public speaking and writing with local communities, healthcare providers, news outlets, blogs and beyond. Combining the power of real-life stories with expert communication strategies, our Rising Voices of Narcolepsy trained speakers and writers are effectively raising awareness and reducing stigma for all those facing narcolepsy.
