TIME Features Sleep Apnea and Project Sleep

Project Sleep’s Sleep Apnea Program Manager, Emma Cooksey, has been featured in the TIME article, “What to Do If You Have Sleep Apnea” by Matt Fuchs, published on November 22, 2024. The article discusses why it’s important for people with sleep apnea to know about different treatment options available and in development.

Given that an estimated 80% of people with obstructive sleep apnea are currently undiagnosed, this article is a significant contribution toward helping raise awareness about sleep apnea and, specifically, the different treatment options available.

Educating about Sleep Apnea Treatment Options

In the article, Emma gave a patient perspective on living with sleep apnea, describing the early challenges she experienced adapting to her CPAP machine.

Figuring out how to get comfortable with CPAP is a big missing part of the process.”

Importantly, the article covers the many treatment options for sleep apnea, including CPAP, oral appliances, surgical options, lifestyle changes, and medications. Often, patients aren’t aware that there are multiple treatment options, and more in development coming to market in the years to come.
