Narcolepsy is a chronic neurological condition impacting 1 in 2,000 people; about 3 million people worldwide. Yet, because of low awareness (even among physicians) and misperceptions, there is an average of 8 to 15 years between narcolepsy symptom onset and diagnosis, and it’s estimated that the majority of people with narcolepsy are currently undiagnosed or misdiagnosed.
In this panel discussion, we will discuss the challenges and opportunities for increasing narcolepsy awareness, especially via media. We will feature a new collaborative Scientific American article highlighting the importance of World Narcolepsy Day and provide tips on how you can raise awareness in your community and globally!
Tune in on Project Sleep’s YouTube channel on Sunday, Sept. 22nd at 9am ET. (If the live video doesn’t show up right away, refresh your browser a few times.) This event will be recorded and available for later viewing.
