Project Sleep’s Rising Voices Story Sharing Series continued with Maha Awad, a TV host, producer, and consultant living with type 2 narcolepsy without cataplexy. Maha shared her journey from struggling with sleepiness in high school chemistry class, to being diagnosed in her 40s but going untreated for years, to finally finding the information, treatment, and support that help her live well and advocate for narcolepsy awareness today.

About Maha:

Maha Awad is an Arab-American TV host and voice actor, producer, and Arabic consultant with over 20 years of experience in front of and behind the camera internationally. Maha began experiencing sleepiness symptoms as far back as high school but was finally diagnosed with type 2 narcolepsy without cataplexy nearly three decades later. As a trained speaker with Project Sleep’s Rising Voices program, Maha hopes to raise awareness about this highly misunderstood condition in the US and across the Middle East.

What is the Story Sharing Series?

Project Sleep’s Rising Voices program serves the dual purpose of fostering a new generation of patient-advocates spreading awareness of sleep disorders while empowering participants. The Rising Voices Story Sharing Series invites viewers to gather online to hear a Rising Voices trained speaker share their story live via Project Sleep’s YouTube channel.
