World Narcolepsy Day 2025 Rocks the World

On September 22, 2025, people around the world joined together in celebrating the seventh annual World Narcolepsy Day to raise awareness and fight stigma around this chronic neurological condition. Members of the community from across the globe participated in activities to show their support via story sharing, social media engagement, and online and in-person events.

Here, we’d like to highlight some of the incredible initiatives that took place to commemorate the day.

Project Sleep’s Events

SPANISH World Narcolepsy Day Story Sharing: María José from Ecuador!

Rising Voices speaker María José Maspons Noboa joined us from Ecuador to share her story of being diagnosed with narcolepsy at age 26 after experiencing symptoms since she was 17. Fellow storyteller Grisel Pantoja facilitated a Q&A session in Spanish afterwards.

World Narcolepsy Day Story Sharing: Glenn from Australia

Rising Voices speaker Glenn Schryver shared his narcolepsy story from Australia! From enduring embarrassment and misunderstandings as a teenager to finding out he had narcolepsy 20 years later, Glenn shines a light on the importance of recognizing symptoms and reducing delays to diagnosis.

Narcolepsy Nerd Alert: Traveling with Narcolepsy

What kinds of considerations are involved when traveling with narcolepsy? In celebration of World Narcolepsy Day, Project Sleep hosted a special Narcolepsy Nerd Alert broadcast for tips on traveling safely with medication, managing jetlag, and using the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyard to make your journey as smooth as possible.

Chris Peters shares his story with future sleep professionals

Sleep tech students at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC got a firsthand story of life with narcolepsy thanks to Rising Voices speaker, Chris Peters, a licensed mental health clinician diagnosed with type 2 narcolepsy without cataplexy at age 24.

To celebrate World Narcolepsy Day, Centessa Pharmaceuticals hosted a panel discussion featuring Rising Voices speaker and Project Sleep board member, Chelsea Cataldi, who shared her experience of living with type 1 narcolepsy with cataplexy.

Virtual Photo Booth

To celebrate World Narcolepsy Day, members of the global community took to our space-themed virtual photo booth to take 365 photos and spread the word about narcolepsy. Check out some of these fun snaps here!

The Italian Narcolepsy Association held a World Narcolepsy Day event on September 20 at a castle in Florence!

The Polish Narcolepsy Association hosted the second annual Narko Weekend from the 19-21 of September!

Narcolepsy Belgium hosted their annual World Narcolepsy Day meetup at the Yellow Window Coffeehouse in Antwerp!

Narcolepsy UK hosted many meetups around the country in celebration of World Narcolepsy Day!

World Narcolepsy Day Balloon Travels Around the World!

This year, Project Sleep embarked on a journey around the world in the World Narcolepsy Day balloon.  From the US to Brazil, Portugal, Poland, Zanzibar, Australia, and beyond, this mission was a huge success! Through incredible community engagement, we were able to reach around the world in the World Narcolepsy Day balloon.
