Sleep Apnea Story Sharing: Meet Kristen

Our Rising Voices Story Sharing Series continued with sleep apnea advocate Kristen Cascio! Kristen shared her story of struggling with extreme fatigue and sleepiness through her young adult years, and how getting a sleep apnea diagnosis and treatment changed her life. Emma Cooksey, a Project Sleep Board Member, Rising Voices speaker, and creator of the Sleep Apnea Stories podcast, guest hosted this exciting event.

About Kristen:

Kristen Cascio is a clinical social worker and world traveler from Boston. She was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea at age 31, and now hopes to raise awareness while encouraging others to never feel self-conscious about their diagnosis. As a speaker with Project Sleep’s Rising Voices program, Kristen shares her story to increase public knowledge around sleep apnea diagnosis and treatment.

The Rising Voices Story Sharing Series invites viewers to gather online to watch a Rising Voices trained speaker or writer present their story live via Project Sleep’s Facebook page.

About Rising Voices Speakers:

To improve public understanding of narcolepsy and other sleep disorders, Project Sleep’s Rising Voices program trains people with sleep disorders to share their stories through public speaking and writing with local communities, healthcare providers, news outlets, blogs and beyond. Combining the power of real-life stories with expert communication strategies, our Rising Voices trained speakers and writers are effectively raising awareness and reducing stigma for all those facing sleep disorders.
