Dr. Anne Marie Morse: 2022 Women’s History Month Sleep Leaders Part 3
March is Women’s History Month! Project Sleep is proud to celebrate the vital role of women in the sleep community through a series of feature profiles.
Meet Dr. Anne Marie Morse!
Dr. Anne Marie Morse, DO, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained pediatric neurologist and sleep medicine specialist at Geisinger Health System in Pennsylvania. She focuses her research on the interaction between sleep and wellness, particularly in neurologic disease, and is a key opinion leader for pediatric narcolepsy and hypersomnia disorders. As a clinician, researcher, and educator, Dr. Morse is invested in the patient journey and works to improve access to quality neurology care.
Equally passionate about sleep health advocacy, Dr. Morse aims to empower people of all ages to recognize sleep’s essential role in our overall wellness. She’s specifically dedicated to creating awareness of healthy sleep habits for children and teens through community-based initiatives.
It is so important to empower patients with education. And using education to have better shared decision making with your provider is critical.”
-Dr. Anne Marie Morse via Project Sleep’s Narcolepsy Nerd Alert
Dr. Morse developed Wake Up and Learn, a school-based sleep education and screening program that helps students, parents, and staff understand the importance of proper sleep schedules. It helps break down the barriers between people struggling with sleep disorders and treatment by providing sleep screenings within school systems and universal education to all of the key stakeholders in students’ lives—all free of charge.
While she frequently speaks at conferences and lends her expertise to media programs, Dr. Morse also leverages social media as a way to help people recognize problematic sleep and optimize sleep health. Check out her TikTok and Instagram accounts, as well as the two Project Sleep Narcolepsy Nerd Alert broadcasts she has been featured in: New & Upcoming Narcolepsy Treatments and Pregnancy & Narcolepsy.
