For people with narcolepsy considering or interested in having children, treatment options for managing symptoms during preconception, pregnancy, and lactation are often limited. This patient-centered session will highlight current clinical practices, the available evidence regarding the risks and benefits of narcolepsy treatment for patients in their childbearing years, lessons learned from management of other chronic diseases during pregnancy, and first-hand testimonials from parents living with narcolepsy.

To learn more about this topic, watch our “Pregnancy & Narcolepsy” episode of Narcolepsy Nerd Alert for an in-depth discussion including patient AND provider perspectives.

Rise of the Patient Voice in Sleep Medicine: The Role of Patient Advocacy Groups in Enhancing Sleep Care

Monday, June 6, 10:30am-12:30pm ET

It can be difficult to fully understand the challenges patients face without directly hearing from them. This discussion group will bring together leaders from both patient advocacy groups and clinicians in the field to highlight resources targeted to patients, review past collaborations between patient advocacy groups and medical specialty societies, and discuss potential future projects and partnerships to tackle issues such as access to sleep care and health disparities in sleep medicine.
